What is Freecycle?

Freecycle is an amazing and almost magical place that allows me to exercise both my hipster side and my house husband side.
Hipster:
Where do I look when I want 50 used mason jars to use as glasses at our urban garden party? Freecycle.
Where do I look when I need 30 feet of leaking garden hose to repurpose as a drip irrigation system for my rooftop garden?
Freecycle.
House Husband:
Where do I post when I want to get rid of old pens cluttering up my desk? Freecycle.
Where do I post when I want to offload the accumulated plastic takeout containers? Freecycle.

What is it exactly? It is a website that connects people that want to give something away rather than throw it away. It is a connection point for those that would rather see their unused stuff in the hands of someone else than in a landfill. When I’m cleaning out the very back of the closet/pantry/desk drawer and I find something that I didn’t realize I still had, I put it on freecycle. I’m not gonna miss it, and I don’t need it.

I keep a running list of things that I can add to free cycle. This helps keep the clutter down around the house, exercise frugality when I need an odd item, gives me less things to dust, and allows my hipster side to brag about the minimalistic lifestyle that I live. Try it out!
